For Steve Nichols (Michael Pare) his visit to Moscow is just a routine business trip, during which he has to sign a contract about the delivery of medical supplied to the United States and meet his Russian business partners. Everything goes according to plan until he becomes a target of the “Red Serpent”. Without even knowing it, Steve falls into a trap and becomes part of narcotic contraband scheme. In order to make Steve take part in the deal Hassan (Roy Scheider), the cold-hearted head of the “Red Serpent” gang, kidnaps his daughter. Steve finds himself completely helpless and his only hope turns out to be a former KGB officer Sergei Popov (Oleg Taktarov), who has old debts to settle with Hassan.
The shoot took place in Russian and the United States between October and December of 2001. The film’s budget is $5,000,000, which allowed both Russian and American stars to be invited to join in the project.
The film is edited under the supervision of Richard Helsi, an Oscar holder from Universal Studios. The soundtrack was recorded by Alexei Belov of the group “Gorky Park”.
